NoBo Riverside restaurant closed its doors on Oct 30th.
The Alluvion, Commongrounds, and all other businesses inside the cooperative building are still open and fully operational. Our upstairs Alluvion bar is still open and serving drinks at all shows and events.
We are saddened to share that NoBo Riverside, our beloved hospitality partner and the first-floor restaurant at Commongrounds, has made the decision to close at the end of October. We are eternally grateful to everyone involved with NoBo: employees, investors, vendors, friends, and family.
If you ever had an excellent meal before or during an Alluvion show, you have this awesome crew to thank. While there had been substantial growth since their pivot to a full-service, elevated dining concept this past spring, ultimately, a combination of pre-existing debt and other complicating factors made it difficult to continue investing in the business, leading to the decision to close.
The Alluvion is not closing, and our upstairs bar service for the venue will continue without interruption for all of our concerts and events. Food service is currently paused, but drinks will remain available at our bar.
Commongrounds as a whole is still here, as are the rest of the businesses and nonprofit organizations in the building. All of the Commongrounds tenants are standalone businesses and organizations. You can still see a show at the Alluvion; join Grove coworking; send your toddler to Northern Blooms Montessori; check out an amazing art exhibit curated by Jessica Kooiman Parker and Alluvion Arts; apply for housing; attend a Groundwork community cooking class or a Higher Grounds Coffee Learning Lab class, and much more.
So, what's next for the NoBo space and food and beverage service at Commongrounds? There are some short-term interim solutions while work is being done on a long-term solution on how to best use the beautiful riverside restaurant space to serve the community.
Café Service: The first-floor café in the front of the Commongrounds building on 8th Street will be able to keep serving coffee.
Alluvion Beverage Service: Commongrounds holds the liquor license for the building, and the Alluvion will still be able to serve beverages without interruption.
Food Service: There will be a period of time starting Oct 31st, where on-site food can't be produced. However, in the short- and long-term Commongrounds will be finding a replacement for food service in the building and we will keep you updated as we know more.
Former NoBo space: In the short-term, Commongrounds hopes to activate the space for community use, special programming in the space in partnership with other building tenant owners and the broader community. The goal is for this beautiful space to continue to be accessible, to draw people in, and to promote connectivity. In the longer term, we'll keep you updated as we know more.
On behalf of The Alluvion Team, thank you all for your hard work and continued efforts as we work together with optimism during this transitional period. We look forward to supporting what comes next for the NoBo space and their vision!
