About the artists:
ADRIENNE EVANS
Adrianne Evans is a senior at Michigan State University majoring in double bass performance and minoring in jazz studies. She is studying with internationally renowned bassist, Rodney Whitaker for jazz bass and principal bassist for the Detroit Symphony orchestra, Kevin Brown, for classical bass performance. Adrianne sings in one MSU jazz ensemble and plays bass in another. She also plays in the MSU symphony, the MSU Salsa band (Salsa Verde), and substitutes as a singer with the Lansing area salsa band, Ritmo. Adrianne grew up in Northern MI and is a graduate of Traverse City Central High school and NMC. Adrianne grew up singing and playing bass, piano, and ukelele with her father, Andy Evans and several other Traverse City jazz musicians.
ANDY EVANS
Andy Evans raised in Cedar, MI, graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Music and a M.A. in Educational Technology. He played as a freelance artist in Nashville, TN for 8 years and taught 5-8 orchestra for 3 years for the Metropolitan Nashville public school system. Andy has performed with numerous groups including: The 5th Dimension, Gary U.S. Bonds, Ben E. King, The Nashville Jazz orchestra, The Establishment Big Band, The Roland Gresham trio, Vassar Clements, Annie Sellick, and Al Delory and Salsa en Nashville. In addition to performing, Andy currently directs 5 choirs grades 5-12.
