Garaj Mahal, one of the greatest, long-standing funk-jam-jazz fusion bands on today's music scene, is back on tour and hitting The Alluvion stage. With a special opening set from New York funk soul organ trio: Norside

Garaj Mahal’s unique, high-energy approach to 70s funk/fusion vibes has been an undeniable force since 2000. Rife with virtuoso players who care deeply about a funky groove, improvisation, and live shows with incredible energy. The band’s organic chemistry defies description, but if you dig tasty jams and master musicians playing at the peak of their game, you won’t go wrong here.

This show will feature both original founding members of the band: guitarist Fareed Haque and bassist Kai Eckhardt.

FAREED HAQUE

Fareed Haque is a globally acclaimed guitar virtuoso blending jazz, classical, and world music traditions. Known for his technical mastery and genre-defying style, he has toured and recorded with artists such as Paquito D’Rivera, Sting, and Joe Zawinul. A co-founder of the jam-fusion group Garaj Mahal, Haque has performed extensively worldwide and earned recognition including Guitar Player Magazine’s “Best World Guitarist.” His music seamlessly bridges cultures, delivering a unique and innovative live experience.

KAI ECKHARDT

Kai Eckhardt is a world-renowned bassist, composer, and educator known for his work at the intersection of jazz, world, and fusion music. A Berklee College of Music graduate, he rose to prominence performing with John McLaughlin and has collaborated with legends including Billy Cobham, Wayne Shorter, and Stanley Clarke. Co-leader of the acclaimed jam-fusion group Garaj Mahal, Eckhardt has toured extensively worldwide and contributed to hundreds of recordings. His dynamic playing and global influences make him a standout voice in modern bass.

NORSIDE

Norside has rapidly established themselves as one of the most thrilling new acts on today's instrumental groove scene. Anchored by a deep-pocket rhythm section and fearless improvisation, this organ trio brings a raw, no-frills energy that feels both timeless and unmistakably of the moment.

Their identity isn't revivalist - it's lived-in. Norside's "Rust Belt Music" carries the weight of factory towns, corner bars, and long winters, channeling the same working-class intensity that shaped cities across America's industrial heartland. There's a toughness to their grooves, a refusal to polish away the grit, and that's exactly the point.

In a remarkably short time, the trio has shared the stage with some of the heaviest names in funk, soul, and jazz - including Soulive, The New Mastersounds, Cyril Neville,  The Soul Rebels, The Bar-Kays, Dwayne Dolphin, and more. Their reputation as a must-see live act continues to grow with every performance.

This summer, Norside releases their new LP, Coal & Soul, on Color Red Music - a sophomore record that doubles down on everything that makes them essential: groove, grit, and soul worn straight to the bone.

Norside is Glenn Strother (guitar), Skip Sanders (organ), and Steve Ippolito (drums).
