Jan 6 Ship Yard Performers:

TWEED TONES

The Tweed Tones are a duo out of Michigan's Northwestern Lower Peninsula, performing at venues all around the region from summer through winter. Formed in the spring of 2024, they feature a repertoire ranging from Chicago Blues to Gypsy Jazz, all the way back to originals and contemporary standards. The duo consists of Peter Allen Jensen on harmonica and vocals, and Preston Parish on guitar. Their sound is a blend of amplified harmonica with a driving Gypsy Rhythm, and a little bit of everything in between.

LINE UP CHANGE

“Right now, The Tweed Tones are going through a lineup change. Preston Parish, our guitarist, is stepping down, and Nick Veine is stepping in as a part-time replacement. Nick is a very talented, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist.”

MOUNTAIN GLOOM AND MOUNTAIN GLORY

In 2009, Kim was in music school in Phoenix, AZ, working on a Doctorate in classical viola performance. Over the New Year, she went to Albuquerque to visit friends and met Matthew at a party. He was an English Professor who dabbled in playing bass and guitar. It was "love at first conversation," however, the music-making didn't start until much later, when Kim bought a fiddle book and began working on building a repertoire that they could play together.

Matthew and Kim played their first gigs together in Albuquerque, NM, mostly at coffee shops in the area. In 2014, they moved back to Kim's hometown of Traverse City, where they revisited the fiddle tunes from their past and began playing in the area.
