Breaking Brass is a brass trio accompanied by piano. All four members of this unique and accomplished ensemble are staff at Interlochen Center for the Arts.

About the artists:

TOM RICCOBONO - TROMBONE

Interlochen Instructor of Low Brass Thomas Riccobono holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, Penn State University, and a Performers' Certificate from the Cleveland Institute of Music.

As a performer, Riccobono has appeared with the Savannah Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic, Milwaukee Symphony, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra in Salzau, Germany, and Spoleto Festival Orchestra in Italy.

KEN LARSON - TRUMPET

Instructor of Trumpet Ken Larson is a versatile performer whose career has spanned orchestral, contemporary, and commercial musical styles. While living in Los Angeles, Larson taught at Pepperdine University, California Lutheran University and was interim Trumpet Instructor at California Institute of the Arts. As a performer Larson played on many film scores including Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Out for Justice, Fire Starter Rekindled, My Blue Heaven, Hot to Trot, Inner Space, the second, fifth and seventh installments of the Police Academy series, and a host of others.

LAUREN HUNT - FRENCH HORN

Dr. Lauren Hunt is the Linda VanSickle Smith French Horn Chair and Director of Brass Studies at Interlochen Center for the Arts. Her professional career was kick-started by winning first prize in the International Horn Competition of America in 2013. More recently, Hunt was selected as a fellow by the Utah Division of Arts and Museums. She performs regularly in the horn section of ensembles including Ballet West, Utah Symphony, Utah Festival Opera, and Artosphere Festival Orchestra.

SUSAN SNYDER - PIANO

Susan Snyder is widely sought after as a collaborative pianist. A specialist in the flute and piano repertory, Snyder has performed at the National Flute Association Annual Convention, the Florida Flute Fair, and Flute Fair Midsouth. At these festivals, she has played with Paula Robison, Judith Mendenhall, Denis Bouriakov, Bart Feller, and Nancy Stagnitta.
