Experience Interlochen’s gifted faculty, students, and guests in Traverse City as the Interlochen in Town Series comes to The Alluvion. This performance features soprano Laura Osgood Brown, mezzo-soprano Lindsey Anderson, and pianist Hyemin Kim.
This concert will be an incredible performance of classical and opera singing with piano accompaniment.
Laura Osgood Brown, D.M.A. is an educator, director, and performer who currently teaches voice and opera at the Interlochen Arts Academy and Arts Camp. As a performer, Brown has appeared as a soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah, among others. Her operatic roles include “Mimì,” “Micaëla,” and the female chorus in The Rape of Lucretia and “Nora” in the world premiere of Paul Siskind's The Sailor-Boy and the Falcon. As an educator, she has directed numerous programs of opera scenes, as well as full-length productions; her students are frequently recognized in national competitions such as YoungArts, Classical Singer, and National Association of Teachers of Singing.
A native of Traverse City, Michigan, Lindsey Anderson has long enjoyed the rich culture provided by the northern Michigan arts community. Anderson maintains a dual career as both an operatic performer and as the Assistant Director of Admissions, Recruitment and Communications, at Interlochen Center for the Arts. Anderson has performed with opera companies across the United States including the Seattle Opera, Toledo Opera, Opera North, and Des Moines Metro Opera, and made her Carnegie Hall debut in March 2019 as the mezzo-soprano soloist in Ralph Vaughan Williams Magnificat. She is the Founder and General Director of Traverse City Opera.
Hyemin Kim, D.M.A., maintains a vibrant international career as a soloist, chamber musician, collaborative pianist, and educator. As a featured soloist, Kim has been invited to perform with ensembles including the Philharmonischen Solisten Bratislava (Austria) and Archi Chamber Orchestra (South Korea). She has won numerous piano competitions, including the Vienna Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition, the Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition, and the American Protégé International Competition. Kim has also served as a collaborative pianist at the Styrian Chamber Music Festival, Albion College, and Gangwon National University (Korea), among others.
